Mehdi Sahebi studied Ethnology, History and International Law at the University of Zurich, where he received his PhD in Visual Anthropology in 2006. Sahebi’s documentary ZEIT DES ABSCHIEDS (2006) was screened at many festivals worldwide and won several awards, such as the Award of the Semaine de la Critique at the Festival del film Locarno and the Grand Jury Prize as well as the Audience Award at the international film festival «Entrevues» in Belfort. His latest film MIRR (2016) premiered at the Duisburger Filmwoche and was awarded the Förderpreis der Stadt Duisburg 2016.

Mirr (2016)

Au Cambodge, Binchey, agriculteur traditionnel de la province du Mondolkiri a été expulsé de ses terres, comme des milliers d’autres petits paysans. Il se sent impuissant face aux grandes plantations d’hévéas étrangères qui accaparent une part toujours plus importante de la surface du pays. Le réalisateur Mehdi Sahebi met en scène, avec Binchey et d’autres cultivateurs, l’histoire de cette dépossession qui a des conséquences dramatiques. Suite
