Daan Veldhuizen was born in the Netherlands in 1982 and studied Audiovisual Arts in Rotterdam. He works in cinema as director, cinematographer and editor. After making multiple short films he made his first long documentary Stories from Lakka Beach in 2011. Banana Pancakes and the Lonely Planet (original title: Banana Pancakes and the Children of Sticky Rice) is his second full-length documentary.
