Ritwik Kumar Ghatak, born on the 4th of november 1925, died on the 6th of february 1976, was a well noted Indian film director, screenwriter, and playwright with bengali focus. Along with prominent contemporary Bengali filmmakers Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha and Mrinal Sen, his cinema is primarily remembered for its meticulous depiction of social reality, partition and feminism.
