Director and producer Fernanda Valadez was born in 1981 in Guanajuato, Mexico. She originally studied philosophy and Latin American studies, but then realised that she didn't want to express herself through concepts, but wanted to get closer to emotions through storytelling. Writing seemed to be the way forward at first, but then she decided to make films and studied at the Centro de CapacitaciĆ³n CinematogrĆ”fica (CCC) in Mexico City.
