Ernest Cole: Lost and Found
Der südafrikanische Fotograf Ernest Cole führte uns in den 1960er Jahren die Schrecken der Apartheid in Bildern vor Augen. 1967 hat er, gerade mal 27-jährig, den Fotoband «House of Bondage» (Sklavenhaus) veröffentlicht. Seine Aufnahmen der Alltagsrealität waren beim Regime unerwünscht; das Buch wurde gebannt. Cole blieb im Exil – in den USA zunächst, in Schweden später. Dort wurden ein Vierteljahrhundert nach seinem Tod im Safe einer Bank 60'000 unveröffentlichte Negative gefunden. Der Filmemacher Raoul Peck begibt sich, kriminalistisch wie politisch, visuell und poesievoll, auf akribische Spurensuche und lässt Ernest Cole in Gedanken und Bildern aus dem Leben und Schaffen erzählen.
